The Origin of “Comic World Hong Kong”
“Comic World” is disseminated from Japan. The originator is “S.E.Inc”. It is a cartoon art supply manufacturer. It has many years of experience in organizing “Comic World” in Japan. According to where it is held, “Comic World” has different names in Japan, e.g. “Comic World Osaka”, “Comic World Akishima” etc. They believe that if more people like to draw cartoons, there will be more people buying their products. Therefore, they are continuously promoting “Comic World” activities. After the development of “Comic World” has become matured in Japan, “S.E.Inc.” starts to develop the Asia Pacific market, having organized “Comic World Taiwan”, “Comic World Hong Kong”, “Comic World Beijing” and “Comic World Korea” in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, and Korea respectively. The first “Comic World Hong Kong 1” was held at the Macpherson Indoor Stadium in Mongkok on 30 August 1998.

“Comic World Hong Kong” is a sales exhibition of the works of interest groups providing a venue for cartoon / comic lovers to sell the works and exquisite items created by them. This sales exhibition is organized annually in autumn (February) and summer (August). Although there is an increasing number of people who enjoy reading or drawing comic, up to now, the works of interest groups which have been developed in Hong Kong for many years are still only the toys of a small bunch of people.
